"Northwest Personal Training inspired me to challenge myself! They give back to the community in so many ways through their active fund-raising efforts. Their team is such an inspiration. Thanks in part to NWPT, triathlon has become a passion of mine. We are so lucky to have world class trainers here in Vancouver." - Trish McConaughy

Summer Solstice 2010

Event Recap:
We have been so fortunate - 3 years in a row with the most incredible weather for our Annual Summer Solstice fun run and walk! The course was beautiful, volunteers were amazing, and the challenge was nothing our incredible group of runners and walkers couldn’t handle!

Besides beating Tim Leavitt, our Vancouver Mayor, here are some of my other highlights from the event:

• The band ‘Throwback Surburbia’ rocked the house!

• The Costume Contest was a lot of fun. Let’s make this even bigger next year!

o Still calculating our fundraising efforts. We don’t have any financial sponsors for this event so all donations are because of YOU! I know we all made a positive impact so kudos to all of you!

o Tommy O’s dinner for $5 and Beer Tent was a big hit!

o Getting massaged and stretched out at the finish was super amazing!

o Commemorative tshirts looked great. Wear them proudly.

o Recyclable water bottle at the finish line – better for the environment and you can use it while remembering your awesome accomplishment

o Our clients who trained so hard to complete this challenge…It brings us so much joy to see you putting your fitness to use! And it was also so great to see so many of our NWPT and NWWFC team members walking their talk and finishing the race too! Can you believe Derrick who ran the whole things barefoot?!

o Our fabulous sponsors - There is absolutely no way we could have pulled this event together without the support from our Sponsors. A huge thank you to PowerBar, Max Muscle, Corwin Beverage Co, FitRight Northwest, Clark County Sheriff Reserve Unit, Tommy O’s, SunRise Bagels, Northest Personal Training, Northwest Women’s Fitness Club, Northwest Health & Safety Inc., Shaka Sound, Clarkes Moving, & Jordan’s photography…and the best way to thank these companies is to do business with them and let them know you’re doing business with them because you appreciate the support they have given to Parks & Rec and Community Choices

o The best volunteers in the world – One of the hardest parts of putting on an event is finding volunteers who are willing to give of their time and energy. I can’t name them all but you know how you are and I pray you will be blessed for you generosity and serving attitude. I also want to make special mention to our team at Northwest Personal Training & Northwest Women’s Fitness Club who provided so much energy, organization, time and a positive spirit throughout the entire planning of this event. It shows that you all really care about our clients, our community and this important cause!

Last, I want to thank all of you for participating – it’s people like you who make a huge difference in our world!

With love and appreciation,

Sherri McMillan
Owner – Northwest Personal Training & Northwest Women’s Fitness Club

Ps. Are you ready for your next challenge. Sign up today for our Girlfriends & Dudes Triathlon on July 25th. It’s a short distance tri with a ½ mile swim downstream (so you can float to the finish if you like!), a 12.5 mile bike and a 3 mile run/walk. If you’re not up to the full challenge, recruit a few friends and do the relay division. And get your kids involved in the kids tri – total fun for the whole family!
