Time: Meeting at the Climbers Bouvac at 6:30am.
Description: Summit Mt. St. Helens
You look at it everyday. Haven’t you always wanted to see it up close and summit? Now’s your chance! It’s Father’s Day weekend and what a wonderful way to celebrate your Dad, Husband or Son with this incredible adventure. Training hikes will be scheduled prior to this event to help us physically prepare for the challenge.

About the Hike: Climbing the volcano is not a trail hike. It is a rugged, off-trail scramble and is not for everyone. Most climbers use the Monitor Ridge route from Climbers Bivouac. This route gains 4,500 feet in 5 miles to the crater rim at 8,365 feet elevation. Although strenuous, the climb is suitable for people in good physical condition who are comfortable scrambling on steep, rugged terrain. Most climbers complete the round trip in 7 to 12 hours. Please be sure to have trained for this hike - cardiovascular conditioning plus lower body muscle conditioning and don’t make this hike your 1st of the season! Mountain climbing is physically demanding. Prepare yourself for a long arduous day.
Location: Directions to St. Helen’s Climbers Bivouac. Take I5 North. Take the Woodland Exit #21. Stay on 503 towards Mount St. Helens. Turn Left on 83 towards Climber’s Bivouac. Turn Left on 830 towards Climber’s Bivouac.

What to Bring: What to wear?
• Layered clothing including full rain gear
• Nylon or polyester clothes (cotton is not a good choice)
• Quick dry shorts if it's hot and quick dry pants if it's cool
• Sturdy, comfortable, water-proof, hiking boots and gaiters to keep out snow and ash.
• Fleece sweater, gloves and hat for the top of the mountain – it’s chilly up there.
• Some people find hiking poles very helpful on Mt. St. Helens
• Sunglasses, sunscreen and lip balm. Sun reflecting off snow and ash at high elevations is intense. Avoid contact lenses, as blowing dust can be a problem.
• Pack a change of clothing in the event it gets cold and you want to change out of your wet gear
• Please do not wear any perfume, heavy deodorant or lotions
• If you like, you can bring a Frisbee, garbage bag or rain pants so you can slide down the mountain

What to bring to eat and drink?
• Trailmix/Dried fruit/Nuts/Candies while hiking and for snacks

Everybody is responsible for their own transportation. If you do not have transportation, inform us and we will put you on a list to help arrange car-pooling for you.
